Media Player Problems

Hi,



I'm having trouble with windows media player. I've googled for hours to find a solution but nothing has worked so far.



Whenever I'm playing a movie (avi file) after a few minutes I get an error message saying "windows media player encoder helper has stopped working" then two options of close program or debug.



If I click close the movie carries on playing as normal and nothing seems different but this message is very annoying and doesn't seem healthy!



Does anyone know what windows media player encoder helper is and why it keeps crashing?



Please help.
